up, up, and away i go...

october 8th • 2009

greetings from vermont, where the fall colors are spectacularly aglow and the leaves are alive, floating and flying from their perches, along the gusts and breezes, before reaching the ground. and as much as anyone is familiar with the notion of traveling to new england just to see the display, it’s nothing like actually witnessing the breathtaking array of golds, cranberries, and reds amidst the evergreens as they express themselves weekly, and even daily, up close and personal. for me, not only is it nourishing to my soul, but a reminder of the potency of nature and what a gift it is just to simply be here and able to pay attention. wow!

in addition to sharing through this blog, i also have a website, thanks to the talent and patience of a wonderful designer in santa fe, that will gradually expand and evolve as i do. i hope you’ll check it out and tell me what you think –
www.ashtangaway.com

i remain somewhat behind in the act of keeping up with facebook, but i’m learning and will see if i can’t employ it as a means of staying in touch, in the cyber world, that is. but my first choice would always be to meet in person should we ever be walking along the same path at the same moment and be able to make that happen.

that said, i will be departing the fall beauty here in just one week, heading first for a visit to santa fe and california, before traveling abroad to australia (october 23rd) and new zealand (december 20th) to immerse myself in my yoga practice and self-study while discovering another part of the world as yet unknown to me. it’s a journey a long time in the planning that is thankfully coming to fruition, and another opportunity to practice being present and paying attention and see what gifts are revealed – one of the wonderful things i love about traveling (not to mention how much it satisfies the closet explorer and adventurer within me).

i plan to return in the new year, january 17th. i can always be reached through email; other than that, i may have a skype or a local number, which i will share with you as it, and if it, comes to fruition.

until then, may you enjoy a lovely season and celebrate the gifts that come your way.
know that, regardless of time or place, i am sending my love.
